Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute (www.rpi.edu) will have works exhibited
at the IMC Expo at the Chelsea Art Museum and will also host
an interactive booth. The
award wining game installation, Stunt Dummies will be shown
by Associate Professor Kathleen Ruiz in the IMC area. Aura,
by Assistant Professor Shawn Lawson will be among the works
shown in the RPI booth. Aura is an experiment in finding and
playing with the human form as a light object. Also featured
is the work of Associate Professor Katherine Isbister & collaborator
Rainey Straus. They will show SimBee, which references the
work of performance artist Vanessa Beecroft within the Sims
game space. Undergraduate students Andrew Horton, Brian Ratta,
and Matthew Giacomazzo will exhibit the exhilarating game Synergy,
a classic cooperative overhead action game with a twist. There
is lots of synergistic action as one player uses a classic
keyboard mouse interface while a second player uses an original
handmade dance pad. Additional works by Rensselaer students
will also be shown…..and played. Many thanks to John
P. Harrington, Dean School of Humanities and Social Sciences,
Kathy High, Chair, Department of the Arts, Sharon Roy, Director,
Academic and Research Computing, and James Watt Department
of Language, Literature and Communication.
